Almost certainly. The DashPlay Pro MAX is completely self-contained — it doesn't connect to your car's computer, stereo or wiring. All it needs is a free 12V socket for power and a spot on the dash or windshield. It operates on 12V–36V, so passenger cars, pickups, vans, RVs and 24V commercial trucks are all covered. Your car does not need to have CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth or even a touchscreen of its own.
Four ways, and you can switch between them any time. FM transmitter — the unit broadcasts on an FM frequency between 87.5 and 108.0 MHz and you tune your car radio to that empty station; works in any vehicle with a radio. 3.5mm AUX — the cleanest option, cable included, if your stereo has an AUX input. Bluetooth 5.1 — pair directly to your car stereo if it already supports Bluetooth audio. Built-in speaker — 8Ω/2W onboard, enough for navigation prompts and hands-free calls without touching your stereo at all.
Navigation comes from your phone. The DashPlay Pro MAX displays Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze and other navigation apps through CarPlay or Android Auto, using your phone's GPS and data connection. That means your maps are always current and you never pay for map updates — but you do need your phone in the car with you.
Only for dash cam recording. CarPlay, Android Auto, calls, music and screen mirroring all work without one. To record and store footage you'll need a microSD (TF) card — the unit supports up to 256GB. A card is not included in the box, so pick one up if you plan to use the dash cam. A high-endurance card rated for continuous video is the right choice for loop recording.
The camera mounts at the rear of the vehicle — typically above the license plate or on the rear glass — and connects to the display with the included 20ft (6m) cable, which is routed along the vehicle's interior trim. It records the road behind you while driving. If you also want it to work as a backup camera, its trigger wire is connected to your reverse light so the screen switches to the rear view when you shift into reverse. That connection is the only part of the setup that involves any wiring, and many owners have a shop do just that step.
Through screen mirroring, yes — your phone's display is mirrored to the 10.26-inch screen, so compatible video apps show up there. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto themselves do not run video apps by design. Video playback is intended for use while parked, and laws on screens visible to the driver vary by state, so please check your local regulations.
Both are supported, so it's your preference. Wireless is the reason most people buy this — you get in, start the car, and CarPlay or Android Auto comes up on its own with the phone still in your pocket. Wired over USB-C is worth using on long drives, since it charges your phone while it runs and keeps the connection rock solid. After the first pairing, wireless reconnects automatically every time.
