Wave disc — correct
The textured foam works polish or compound into the paint to soften light swirl marks and fine surface scratches. Use a medium-to-higher speed, and start here on paint that looks tired.
Flat disc — protect
Even, full-contact foam for laying down a thin, consistent coat of wax or sealant across every panel. A low speed keeps it from slinging.
Short-hair disc — finish
Soft fibers buff off the haze and bring up the gloss. This is the pass that makes the paint look wet.

Wash and dry the car
Polishing over dirt grinds it into the paint. Start clean, in the shade, with cool panels.
Fit the pad, add product
Press the pad onto the backing plate and apply a few small dots of polish or wax to the pad — not the car.
Work one section at a time
Start on a low speed, keep the pad flat and use light pressure. Move in slow overlapping passes across a small area.
Buff to finish
Switch to the short-hair disc and buff off the residue for a clear, glossy finish.
